Some 65 million light years distant, NGC 1398 is an example of a barred spiral galaxy. About 135,000 light years in diameter and containing over 100 billion stars, NGC 1398 is slightly larger than our own Milky Way.

NGC 1398 is located in the southern sky constellation Fornax.
