Messier 78; NGC 2068

Discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780, and catalogued by Charles Messier that same year, this reflection nebula is the brightest belonging to the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, and is about 1,600 lightyears from Earth. The nebula reflects the light from two stars, HD 38563A and HD 38563B.
